DeKalb County Schools: Stronger Together

Welcome back to a new school year at Montgomery Elementary School!
Greetings! My name is Ms. Pitts, and I hail from Auburn, AL. I earned my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Alabama A&M University in Normal (Huntsville), Alabama, and taught Space History – past, present, and future – at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville before moving to Georgia almost 24 years ago.
In 2007, I completed my Masters's degree in Technology in Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, and later obtained my Specialist degree in Technology in Education from the same institution in May 2010. I also obtained my Gifted Teacher Certification in 2011.
I've been fortunate to work with several organizations in Georgia, including Lockheed Martin, where I served as the Lead Teacher for Aviation Camp. At the DeKalb County School System, I was a District Science Trainer, taught 4th grade for 10 years and chaired the Fourth Grade at Canby Lane Elementary for three years, and taught 3rd grade at Montgomery Elementary for seven years. After that, I served as the Innovation Lab teacher here at Montgomery where I led the technology lab for approximately seven years.
I believe that teaching is a group effort, and with our collective guidance, your child will excel this academic year. As your child's 3rd-grade teacher, I'm thrilled about the upcoming school year and the opportunities it will bring.
Warmly,
LaTriena Pitts
